It’s my birthday today and my oldest daughter is getting MARRIED tomorrow. I feel blessed beyond measure, so you’ll forgive me for having zero to offer you today. Next week, I’ll be here talking about my writing process.Read More →

I wanted to share my post on the Heart-Shaped-Glasses blog. This month, I’m talking about how my mom is making me crazy. And also how we find our own relaxation zen. Relaxing: Different Flavors  Read More →

C. and I were in Wal-Mart today and her ankle was hurting and I just always hurt after Wal-Mart. Usually, she loads the groceries in the back for me, but today, she said she needed help. I told her that was fine. She said, “We need to hurry,” and I replied, “We’ll throw these [groceries] in the back like we’re trying to get rid of a dead body.” Fast forward, we’re checking out and C. is pulling the bags off the little turn-thing. I said, “Be careful, there might be breakable stuff in there.” I mean, Ragu isn’t free, amiright? C. said, “Mom, how are weRead More →

You may also not care, but if you read any further I’m going to assume that you do. Or you’re very bored. I have two dogs and a cat. And three daughters, two of which are grown up ladies, which freaks me out. And maybe a partridge in a pear tree somewhere. Sometimes, I feel like my life is made up of people who adore me that always need something from me. Then I realize that’s quite awesome, and I should stop head-complaining. I ‘headcanon‘ things all the time. Like couples in restaurants. Two puppies on the sidewalk. Everthing. Constantly. I think it’s a writerRead More →

I know I’ve been pretty absent over the holidays. Sorry, but… you know, holidays eat souls. On the upside, I’m posting today over at the Heart Shaped glasses blog about the new technique I’m using to develop a plan for writing every day. Please give it a read, comment if you like, and I’ll be back next week with something here.Read More →

I am so. close. to writing the end on my novella. I have written all the scenes that set up the big bang scenes and the black moment. I’m crazy excited. And busy. So, I though I’d just share a picture with you about how insane writing can look to outsiders.   Click for a larger look.Read More →

So, just so you know how exciting and full my life is, I thought I’d update you. I am about three-fourths of the way through my novella set in the fifties. I’m really excited about it. My heroine is one hot mess and it’s so interesting for me to watch her arc. My friend, Landra, tells me I only write really messed up characters. And she’s right. They’re my favorite. But in all fairness, I spent ten years in mental health. I think everyone is a little messed up. The fun is in the details. Anyway, it is my fervent hope to have this storyRead More →

It’s that time of year again, when all of your writer friends start asking about your daily word count and offering up encouraging motivational quotes. Basically, everyone is writing but you. Well, and me. If you’re as determined as I am to not write (like that’s a necessary part of being a writer–whatever), here are some ideas to place in your procrastination bank. Play a game I, for example, sometimes play life simulation games. You know, like that Kim Kardashian superstar-for–no-reason-at-all game. I’m the one in the glasses (to show that there’s more to me than my amazing pouty lips and stunning eyes). You’ll noticeRead More →

I’ve been struggling to come out of this block I’ve had for the last couple of weeks with my story. I’ve tried writing articles, bought myself a new padfolio from mead.com, and whined to my crit partner. A lot. When that didn’t help, I thought I’d look for some moving quote or bit of advice. I found this. Well. That was rather uninspiring. I do own this now, though, and that consolation can’t be measured.  Read More →
