Or the prank call. You decide! Check this site out, getmooh.com. It will call you (or someone else, I suppose) at a time and date of your specification, although I couldn’t get it to move past December. *shrug* The potential for abuse is pretty high here, so check it out while it’s still around. At the very least, listen to the recordings, just for the amusement value. Although, listening now, holy crap, did Alec Baldwin talk some smack to his kid or what (second recording down)?Read More →

Movie in a Minute. It’s actually pretty amusing. And, hey, you know how we’re supposed to be able to condense our story to one sentence? Well, someone did it for these movies.Read More →

Bitterness Never be afraid to share your dreams with the world, because there’s nothing the world loves more than the taste of really sweet dreams. If you go over to Despair, Inc.’s site, you’ll find dozens more of these hilarious demotivators. I want them all.Read More →

Okay, if you’re a writer, clichés are bad. Like… playing with fire bad, bad hair day bad, like a fish out of water bad. Get the picture? Sure they’re descriptive, and we don’t have to reach for them–they just pop into our heads, fully formed because we all know what they mean. But it’s lazy writing. But, hey, I’m not here to lecture you. This is link licker day. So, just for kicks, have some fun with the Cliché Finder. You type in a word, and it’ll come up with all the bad clichés associated with it.Read More →

This site has some awesome software most days. Two things to watch for: 1) when you go to the download page, check to make sure it’s not a “time limited offer” (not all are) and 2) install it that day. If you try to install it later, it won’t go through.
Giveaway of the Day

Want to hear something amusing? It occurred to me that my mother might read this, or my aunt, both of whom I love dearly (who will call me on this)…and I nearly censored myself. Ironic? I think so. So sorry Mom and Auntie T., but that’s just what censorship is. Ooookay, and this post starts now. Today’s link is to 25 Banned Books That You Should Read Today. The idea of banning books amazes me. The only reason I can think of that libraries and schools would ban books is because parents are too lazy to parent their children. We’re not talking going into theRead More →

Apparently, there seems to be a link between creativity and…well, madness. A show of hands, please, from anyone who is surprised. Anyone? Didn’t think so. Here’s the link for the article. Research was done by U of T (no clue) and Harvard. This discovery, I think, is about as shocking as finding out the wheel is round. Do you know any sane writers? If you do, they’re faking it. Trust me.Read More →

This site reminds me a lot of Post Secret, only without the awesome art. It doesn’t make it any less powerful to read, though. I admire these people, who share a slice of their life. If I had to boil my life down to one sentence, one illuminating moment that defined my existence, or had at least strongly shaped it, I just don’t believe I’d have the words. At the same time, interesting as it is, and it is a little like realizing you can see into your neighbor’s window just when they’re doing something incredible/humiliating/sexy… wouldn’t this be great practice? Take all of yourRead More →

I know, I know. Lolcats are not the hallmark of an intelligent person. I’m not proud of my lolcatz addiction. And I do kind of worry about what it says for my sense of humor that, “Oh, hai,” never fails to make me snigger. Blame it on ceiling cat. Whatever. I defy you to go there, now, and not waste an hour. Go on, I’ll wait.Read More →

My aunt–the teacher (well, one of my aunts who is a teacher)–sent me this link. It seems this site* is giving one state 50,000 new books. All you have to do is vote, once daily, for the state of your choice. Optionally, you can also let them know what book got you hooked on reading. Hurry, though, voting ends September 15th! *Link is no longer active.Read More →
